Clone Clip

Post by McGinnis »

Heres a clip of my mule express.
The backing track is just a generic jam track, but all the leads are a Carvin straight into my Express clone.

If that clip doesn't convince one to build an express - nothing will

Beautiful!

That amp tone certainly works well with that 80's style hard rock playing!

Damn!!! I love it! Reminds me of Megadeth's Rust in Peace album. Too bad building an Express won't improve my chops . . . .

Sounds great! I really like an Express for that aggressive type of soloing.
What tubes you got in it? :D

Thanks guys. I to thought it was a nice clip. I cannot take credit for the fine picking though. Thats my buddy Tom Harris. Cant he play! :o I'm more of a Hendrix/Gilmour type of guy myself. Old and slow
I'll have more clips in the future for sure. With some ytube vids.
Cheers
Chris
If you are really bored heres me noodling around on my 18 watt UFO through an EV12L ,with pedals( DD5, 69 Fuzz, EH Hog, Nick on Drums). It's like 12 minutes long but Gets good around 2:00 to 4:00.
AT 3:25 Something amazireally wierd happens
No epic Tom Harris shreadfest but it has its moments

It sounds a lot like George Lynch on an Express. I'm pretty sure George used one (borrowed?) at one point. But it might have been the one that Ken tweaked for that 80's Rock/Metal sound.

The only things different from the Kelly schematic, are I used 25uf caps on the V1 & V2 cathodes instead of 22s. It's what I had handy. I also left the grid resistors on the power tubes at 5.6K instead of the 1.5Ks. They were already there and I just left them. It's a mule. I'm building another one now with 22s and 1.5s. I'll a/b them when it's done and we'll see if there's a difference.

george lynch owned suzanne. I think the sound we are hearing has alot to do with the 2 15" michigan speakers.
anything worth doing, is worth doing right

The amp will sound different with 1k5 on power tube grids.
I've run with 5k6 before and it's a very audible change.

Nice tones though! 15 inch will be big difference in tone
