They are the Belton variety IIRC.

Can't recall if they were top or bottom mount though.

Hopefully someone more knowledgable will chime in soon.

They are $160 on ebay :?: http://compare.ebay.com/like/3502728582 ... s&var=sbar

9 pin sockets are $5.95 at all parts http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdet ... e=googleps

$9.95 at Angela http://angela.com/eightpintubesocketpre ... cgold.aspx

I used the silver type on mine.

Do many of you guys use the ceramic sockets in your amps?

I have read that if the amp is particularly loud and gainy the ceramic sockets can become more microphonic because of their hardness and coupling to the chassis.

Don't let that smoke out!

I have ceramics in my personal Liverpool and can attest that it took lots of effort to stabilize microphonics etc.

Another Liverpool I built subsequently had sockets provided by RJ and they were great!!

I've built Komet 60, Express and JCM800 with ceramic and haven't had problems but I prefer Belton tube sockets just using up some of my old ceramic stock is all. :)

Yes Mark
I have to add that there is probably a range in quality of ceramic sokets
IIRC mine were from Tube depot- should be fine but they made my V1 sing.
And also with the Beltons I sense the tubes "sit" better. With the ceramics it's as if they wiggle more easily

Make sense?

Maybe its just me

I've found ceramic sockets just don't hold the tube as tightly as Beltons, especially with octal sockets.
