I made up faceplates by painting them with the textured paint and having them laser etched... it was interesting but that didn't work as well for a template as an anodized plate. I was thinking about having another set made up from anodized templates. Let me know if I should maybe add one more set??

I am using the Heyboer trannies that were defined here on TAG. I might guess that Rob Hinson provided the specs on them, I am not sure. I am really Looking forward to this build but I gotta say that I am really interested in that Edcor that Passfan used... they are such good sounding trannies, I've just gone too far down this path to change now.

Have you guys listened to the sound clips they have on line? awesome.... http://www.kometamps.com/sounds/kcdemo1.mp3 if David Gilmore doesn't come to mind then something is wrong.

That clip is what makes me want to build the Concorde. Those tones blow me away.

Altered board file

Post by bnwitt »

For those of you that are building this amp from the package of files I put together, please notice the "altered boards" pdf file. I moved a couple of the eyelet locations on the power cap board to get them farther away from the stand off mounting screws. I didn't like having the B+ so close to a ground point.

Great looking and sounding amp. I like all the tones, especially the chime in the first clip. That'll put a smile on a guitarists face every time. rj you're right on with that clip from Komet's site. Gilmore to a tee! only more gain. :D

I always get bit by that and have to move them. Still mighty nice to have something to go by. :)
