Express Build and Clip
Hey guy's. Here is a gut shot of my Express I just recently finished. I used Nik's chassis and Mooses trannies. I sourced the rest of the parts from various places. I also made a quick recording. It was done with a Hamer FM Special. Duncan 59 neck pickup through a 2-12 semi-open back cab loaded with Private Jacks. Mic was a SM57.

Thanks Straycat. I'm using Mullard 12AX7's in V1 & V2 and an Amperex Holland in V3. Mullard EL34's. Also Winged C El34's sound good in these for new production tubes.

Re: Express Build and Clip
Great Lookin' Express Steve! Excellent job of parts sourcing too. I want mine to look and perform like that. I'm waiting on the Toneslut trannys and I can't find a Hammond type chassis that conforms to the original's dims.I think I'm gonna have to visit the sheet metal dudes and have a oneoff done just to complete this. I'd rather spend the fundage on correct valves 'cause I'm sure that's mojo Ken designed around.

Thanks Noel. The transformers are definitely worth the wait. Nik at Ceriatone sells the chassis and it's well made. I tried several NOS tubes and they all had their own flavor. This was the combination that I liked best. The EL34 Winged C tubes really do sound good but with the Mullards the harmonic content is much better. Good luck with your build.

Nice work! Great tone on the clip, the harmonics on the express are pretty cool. Phil

Re: Express Build and Clip
Thanks Phil. I really dig the tones this amp is capable of. I'm going to work on some better clips and post them soon. That one was a little sloppy but I just threw it together quickly to get a sample out there. I just hate to post a build pic without a clip to go with it.

Re: Express Build and Clip
It took me month's to post a clip of my express, and it was really sloppy! With my phone hookup and outdated computer it's pretty hard for me to download lots of stuff let alone post sound files. Phil
Re: Express Build and Clip
Great Job! Nice clip as well.
Re: Express Build and Clip
That amp sounds phenominal
I love the harmonic content of the feedback swells.

Thanks guy's. I am really getting hooked on it. I have been working on my cab over the holidays. I'm not much of a carpenter but it is turning out pretty nice. I'll post some pics when it's done.

Re: Express Build and Clip
Thought I would post some pics of my cab. I put this together over the holidays. I used Red Oak with a Tung oil finish.
