Liverpool and Strat song

Post by bcmatt »

Being a less-than mediocre guitarist in an unknown Canadian band, I've thus far been too intimidated to post any clips of my Liverpool that I built a few years ago (thanks to this forum!). However, after recording a couple new songs last week, I realized that all guitar parts for this one are the middle pickup of my strat with volume on full and all the same amp settings. All variance of tone is due to picking/strumming strength. Also it'sall recorded through a WGS Retro 30. I thought that might be interesting enough to some people considering a Liverpool build. So, now I post.

Thanks!
I fixed the link. Sorry about that. I wrote that first post on my phone while sitting in the airport. Typing on that thing causes endless problems...

Anyways, ya, we are on iTunes, but these 2 new songs aren't yet. The previous album (which is on itunes) is a lot rougher recording because we didn't have a producer in there helping us to not sound like suck as much. We've since learned that you need someone looking after the quality of the over-all recording instead of just three musicians wanting to hear themselves more clearly (and a recording engineer just trying to make everyone happy).

I actually like our other new song more, but it uses more than just my Liverpool. The producer liked my DC30 with the Celestion blue for the rhythm guitar stuff so, it isn't as Liverpool-Exclusive as "Rocky Mountain Blue"... Although, I bet the Liverpool could have easily done it too, if I plugged it into the Blue and turned the gain down a bit more.

So ya, it looks like our other new song "Hear You" is available on CD Baby now:

I think in the next week or two we should get another simple slideshow youtube video up for it too... in case you'd like to hear the whole thing without having to pay 99 cents for it.

Excellent tune! Nice video too - there's a good shot of your Pool.

Well done!

Haha! Oh ya! I had to think about it for a minute, then re-watch the video myself.
At 2:24, and then behind the sweater in the back of my van in the last shot of video. With the way you can see how it gets crammed in with drum hardware, etc, you can understand why at this point in my 'pool's life it only gets a pine cab. It just absorbs all the dings, without making it look much worse. After all this touring mistreatment, I'll make it a nice hardwood cab like it deserves.
