So I was looking at Nik's Layout over at Ceriatone:

I see he is running a half power switch.
Has anyone used one of these on a Rocket? Does it make any noticeable difference in volume level? Looks like a 62 ohm and a 68 ohm 10 watt resistor, also a DPSP switch - Does that look right?

Re: Half Power Switch in Rocket
It's not worth it in my opinion besides if the owner uses the 18w all the time without switching the tubes around periodically one set of tubes are worn out more then the other two.
Not that big of volume difference either.

I haven't met a half-power switch that seemed useful. You?
I build and repair tube amps. http://amps.monkeymatic.com

You still have to adjust the load, run the 16 ohm cab into the 8 ohm tap, but it should work.
Re: Half Power Switch in Rocket
Why not use VVR?
It is harder to implement but should be more flexible.

I built "The Fowler" 18 Watt Rocket and that thing is super loud. It's running about 14 watts per El84 and sounds great! It almost needs the LarMar MV to calm it down a bit!

In theory, theory is the same as practice. In practice it's different.
