Thanks Allyn!

Do you think the cleans are loud enough for, say, a rather "quiet" jobbing date? There's a band I sub with that always mics the guitar amp. Maybe I could get away with something like this!

I'm actually thinking about a combo...I have a 2x10 Super cab and chassis...

Ahhh, my wife would just do this

Both of these builds look really cool.

What is the iron?

Is there a layout?

Hi rhubarb,

I used a hammond 269EX for the power transformer and a cheesy AES PT31 for the output transformer.

I don't have a layout but, you can see the board very well on my site. Although, I wouldn't re-use the same layout. I wouldn't put all the power capacitors in the same section.

Cheers,
Stephane.

Hey fella's sorry to kick a dead horse.... got a little question relating to this amp Allyn.

I've got a line on a Hammond AO-44-3 reverb amp. It uses two ECL86's, but I can't find a schematic and the seller doesn't know if it's SE or PP.... do you? Do you think the iron would be suitable for an amp like this?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Very nice Allyn. Even built on a BUD chassis, very cool. I bet it sounds nice. You need to get yourself a woodburning tool, and start getting artsy on the front panels

Beerman - there is a link to the AO-44 schematic in the first post in this thread on the Hoffman forum:

(See the fourth and fifth pages of the .pdf file)

Is there a complete schematic for this? I know it's derived from the Derailment, but I'm somewhat of a noob to tubes (but not electronics) and it would be better to have a specific schematic for this.

Looks real nice Allyn!

As I understood it, it is a Derailment... look in the Wreck files section.

I should have been more specific. I'd like to use an EL84 instead of the ECL86, similar to what Stephane did, but a single 12AX7. I didn't find any Derailment schematics with EL84's.

Stephane, how did you swap to the EL84?

Thanks
Ken

The ECL86 gives the circuit one more gain stage to be used as a driver for the ECL86's pentode. Without it you will be one stage short of that circuit.

Thanks Allyn. I understand now.

Do you have a higher resolution pic of the wiring? It would be a great reference for when I do mine.

Thanks
Ken
