Rocket Combo

Post by dcribbs1412 »

Going to try a big bottle rocket reverb combo.
Chassis drilled and boards almost ready
Will try and use Mag Comp AC 30 PT laydown style.(not enough clearance to stand up in cab  )

Got it fired up and in the cab.
Using a 5r4 rectifier tube to keep voltages down for now
JJ6L6's sound good. Will be trying el34 and 6550's. Maybe Kt66's
Not sure about the Mojo greyhound speaker. Can get raspy, maybe just needs some breakin time.
Cleans sit nice with reverb and can get some fairly heavy rock tones with mid switch and V1 boosts and still cleans up with guitar volume.

Wow DC that turned out nice. Your cab is gorgeous.
I loved your cab for your Badcat but this one is really something.

What was the wood and stain choice?
Great job, Joe

Very good looking cab and the chassis wiring looks very nicely done. :)

I finished a Rocket combo a few days ago 4-EL84 version.

Thanks guys
All pine cab. Stain was a mix of walnut and red oak I had on hand
Topped it with a few coats of Tru-oil

Nice looking amp Mark
One day I'll do a 4x84 rocket.
Thanks again for all of your Rocket info and help.

Don't know how I missed this build, but I ran across this thread while scoping out big bottle rockets. Cribbs, that that is a really great looking cab!
