Because grounding the reservoir cap(s) at the PT CT or nearby, and grounding the preamp filter caps at the input jack or nearby, is a proven grounding scheme to reduce hum.
I get that, but looking at the two middle caps on the stack, they are both connected and grounded "twice", once with the black wire and also at the bottom left chassis lug. Maybe I'm seeing things.

The middle caps are not connected. What you see is a reflection of the bottom cap lead in the mirror-like surface of the end of the bottom middle cap. Look at the end of all 6 caps and you will see the same reflection on all of them. Some are more obvious than others.

I guess that final picture with a steeper camera angle threw me off. Optical illusion I suppose. Sorry for all the confusion!
