Other Builds using Pacific Transformers

Post by jferris5 »

I'm just curious what other builds besides an Express a set of pacific transformers could come in handy for. In particular the 11410 with 280/250v secondaries and the 11415 output transformer. Have any of you these in other builds besides an express?

Hey ferris.
I built a badcat hotcat 30 with those trannies that I bought from RJ guitars, ( he is a member here)
I built it about a year ago, and it is one of my favourite amps

Thanks Joe. I'd like to hear more about that build. I'm assuming you just used a solid state rectifier rather then having both tube and ss since there's no 5v on that transformer? Also how did it work out with the 280v on the secondaries vs the 321 i see in the schematic?

Hi Ferris: I guess we don't have the same PT's, sorry mine has 5v taps.
I did use the SS/Tube rectifier. I used a 5U4 and it seems to give me more bass, than a gz34.
this thing started off as an experiment, and I guess this amp is an Express/Badcat.
using the 280 taps sounds great on the El34's. I don't know if the 6.6K OT is ok with this cct, whatever, I like it
