Picked up a Fane F70.

Post by leadfootdriver »

Haven't been around in a while, but I just got this speaker, and it works great with the Express. The sound is really rich. I think it's my new favorite for this amp.

Same old backing, but the tone is good. I'm using a Silent Sister Cab with a Rockcrusher Attenuator set on -12db.

*Edit*

I dialed back the gain and dialed in more amp EQ. I'm liking the sound I'm getting.

I'm interested in this speaker but am unsure if it mixes well with a celestion in a 2x12 Bogner OS

I did a speaker compare with a different amp if you were interested.

Nice! Thought I was at a Judas Priest concert. Fane is a more open/less compressed sounding to me. I like it, but I like all three as well. 8) What amp did you use for the comparison?

That's a Fryette Sig:X on the high gain Red Channel. Here's the same amp on the mid gain Yellow Channel that's more dialed in.

Is it fair to say it sounds like a Celestion Vintage 30?

They are similar. Buy I think the Celestion is more pointy, whereas the Fane's upper midrange is more spread out.

That's good to know, btw is that from listening to the clips or personal experience?

I have had an early V30 but it sounded rubbish with my Rivera Fender Concert. I think a Kendrick Black Frame would have been the ticket as they have a good bass response or perhaps the EV speaker that was optional.
