That’s great Aaron.
It’s strange, our builds are almost the same and yet I was having trouble with the popping on the input and you had the hum.

Amps are too weird.....lol

Nice cabinet

Refinements made, faceplate ordered.

I put the NFB on a switch, beside the attenuator switch--so now there are two ways to tame this beast for practice volumes, while allowing the flexibility to roar when needed.

I removed the MOSFET B+ dropper, and am keeping the 5U4GB recto for it's large voltage drop. This gives me 335v at B+ and 13v at the power tubes' 87R cathode resistor, putting plate dissipation right at 100%, and showing about 28 watts clean output power.

I added NFB to my Rocket. (Yes, I know I may lose my membership over this.) This sorted the hum nicely.
Hmmm... as I scratch my head??? Maybe one of the guru's can help us understand but in the meantime that might be incredibly useful as a solution and certainly a diagnostic tool. It's gotta be telling us something and I suspect it's quite cool.

O.K. - how does the amp sound? can you hear anything different aside from the hum when you dial the negative feedback?

RJ, my NFB is full bandwidth (no capacitor involved), so, as expected, it just sounds like the gain drops about 3dB. I’m still fairly certain the Baldwin PT is the noise culprit—in standby I can hear it humming; it’s just one of those slightly unbalanced PTs that we encounter from time to time.

I am quite happy with the sound of the amp. I got to play it a lot yesterday with my Telecaster. There’s lots of articulate high end that just shouts “strings!” probably complimented by the Jensen Jet Falcon, which has that Princeton flavor.

Looks great! I never noticed the "hand monkeyed... " part. Is that new?

Curious: did you wind up ditching the tube recto for SS? If not, how are you powering the Reverb Power Supply?

Edit: I just figured it out. I saw your updated NDS thread. The Reverb didn't go into the R64 amp after all.

No, I’ve been branding them “hand monkeyed” since the start. Gives you a real sense of confidence in the quality, huh? :)
