Komet K60 or Concord Layout

Post by aaronz28 »

Does anyone have a Concorde layout/schematic/photos available?

of course, i've owned 3 of the Bubinga cabinet Komet LTD, but never bothered to take on out of the cabinet long enough to take some hi-res images or dray up a layout - i know = amp geek fail!!!

help - these will nOT be published - but only used to build my own person clone that will never go up for sale!

Concorde schematic, no layout but have lots of photos.

EDIT I have lots of K60 photos but very few Concorde photos and the photo zip files that used to be on Ampgarage are gone?

The Concorde is similar to the Komet, but the unused triode is used as a cathode follower. The Concorde has a reputation for being a rock amp.

What's the topology of the amp?

Gain/TS/Recovery/Gain/Cathode Follower?
Or is the TS feed by the Cathode Follower?
Pre/post gain?

Looks like that cathode follower could really be anywhere :?

It's the first one, the cathode follower is after the third stage.

Have you seen this link?

Allyn came up with a mod to make the vintage/fast switch into a foot switch.

Yeah I got a kit from Dana Hall complete with PS but never built the Concorde yet.

Allyn's Concorde build below:

On a side note, I wasn't too hip on the VVR after a while. I had to replace a few chips on production amps. Could have been a bad run of chips, but I just removed the VVR on the ones I built eventually. The footswitch however, works awesome!!! Thanks to Dana Hall and Mark Huss who's help put together the first working prototype then Dana and I had boards made. I've never had one fail!

Does the VVR work well on Express amps Allyn?

While you're here, how does the Express, K60 and Concorde compare?

I figure the Concorde is more of a rock amp?

I didn't like VVR on an Express. At least it was not useable enough to knock some power.

A PPIMV might work better.

So, just so I am understanding this a little better:

The cathode follower is being fed by the cold clipping stage, and CF output is going into PI input?

What power supply node is the CF being fed from? 3rd gain stage?
