Has anyone mocked up a Trainwreck in SPICE?

Post by boyfarrell »

I find SPICE quite useful to learn about a circuit and get a feel for the signal and how it propagates. Just wondering if anyone has mocked up a Liverpool circuit? Thought I would ask before doing it myself, reinventing the wheel and all.

I made up a model of the full Express amp years ago. Don't think I've got the file anymore. Express or Liverpool, you'll need to model the full amp including the power supply to see everything that's happening inside the amp. The clipping character of most Spice valve models will also show inaccuracies in the response compared to the real amp - just something to be aware of and adjust for in your interpretation of the results. The dynamic interaction between the power screen current draw, power supply sag and consequent change in operation around the phase inverter in both of those amps shows up but isn't 100% accurate in the Spice modelling.
