Something odd in the Pacific OT description

Post by rooster »

There was a post recently where someone listed the Pacific OT as having 7.5K primary, and of course ppl responded with, 'No, it's 6.6K'. But then there's this:

So, wtf? Did Pacific make two versions, one with 7.5K and another with 6.6K? Currently, as is plain to see, they only offer the 7.5K version for the Trainwreck amp. Has this always been the case?

They also spec the Marshall 50W Output transformer at 4.5K

And a JTM45 OT at 10.4K

Although the 18W OT isn't far off at 7.5K

Be interesting if someone bought one and measured it, although they're possibly doing themselves out of sales with incorrect specs.

"And that prank where you pretend a large gauge wire remnant still retains high voltages then you make your friends jump by poking them with it and making a loud 'ZZZZZT!' noise? Yep. We wrote that prank and used it on our employees way back in 1986."

OK, I called Pacific Audio Magnetics and talked to an engineer at Pacific Transformer Corp. He is aware that 2 years ago the there was a second division created to sell guitar amplifier transformers under Dave Thomas's (Thompson?) direction, but he has never looked at that website because it is a different division. Alright, the engineer I talked to had access to the spec sheets of the transformers and he told me the TW OT is actually 6.6K, the 50W Marshall was 3.6K, and the JTM 45 was (I think he said) 9.4K (?). I didn't ask about the 18W Marshall. He also said that he would relay my concerns to them on Monday. So it looks like a paperwork snafu.

I hope this helps someone buying trannys from Pacific Audio Magnetics (a company that sells on Reverb.com currently, btw).
