Just trying to understand the logic behind this

Post by Nielest »

Not that it matters, but I was wondering why the NFB loop is tied to the 8 ohm tap of the OT versus the 4 or 16 ohm taps?????

Just trying to understand the logic behind it....

Designer's choice. There are plenty of commercial amps out there that use 2Ω, 4Ω, 8Ω, and 16Ω taps. Browse through the various Fender schematics to see lots of different choices...

If you change the tap, you have to change the resistance, in order to keep the same amount of NFB.
