Why do you use MF, metal film resistors for the grid stoppers?

for first stage - MF DALE for low noise floor, 15k grid stopper, 1M for grid leak
after mostly vintage carbon Dralorics, then is MOX for cathode follower , and one grid stopper - i put 220k mox because was first on the hand :P
after during the tweak i put Beyschlag 220k 2w in anode of the CF, but sound didnt change so very good + for that resistor, just i get more gain (what i wanted)

the sound is really great, touch sensitivity is very good, a monster headroom in the clean sound. And it is quite. But too loud to hear the overdrive spot. IMG_5639.jpegIMG_5638.jpegIMG_5637.jpeg
I will try your few mods, asap.
very nice, so tweaking can start :P
you can use unused half of V2 like output from V2a- 5nf-470k-470k to the ground, and then mid point of 470k's to unused grid of V2, grid stopper up to 100k..anode resistor 100k- cathode 5-10k (bigger cathode resistor more compression and sustain), or for more gain anode 150-220k.. output to master volume (500k), and then to the PI over 100nF to keep this huge coupling cap topology.. this should get you there , more gain on lower volume
