Stand Alone Wreck Preamp

Post by MGW »

Bear with the noob here!! Is a stand alone Wreck preamp a possibility? And would it give you the same control ability from clean to overdrive with the guitars volume knob?

Thanks

MGW,
Welcome to the forum. You could make a Trainwreck preamp but I don't think it would capture the sound of a Trainwreck. Alot of the tone is derived in the phase inverter and power amp section and getting them to clip before the preamp section.

I'm sure others can chime in and give the 2 cents as well.

That's what I figured. I heard Novella live back in the day. That was my first experience hearing a Wreck. Since then, I have wanted to have one, but the money is just too much at this point. SO...I am glad I found your site, cause I am gonna build one now. Haven't found layouts and schematics until this place. Thanks for the great site.
