Hey Steve - extremely nice! - is that a veneer inlayed on the front? If not how was it done?

Thanks!

Hey Nick -

No veneer, its an actual piece of Jarrah laminated in with the maple. You can see that it is a full piece in this shot from the back of the cab:

FWIW - Brad lives just outside of Perth, in Gooma, Western Australia. He's more local to you than me

Check out some of the work he does here: http://www.mccustomcabinets.com/

I wound up using a cherry tinted urethane. It sucks to spray. It wants to run if you put it on thick at all. I think it looks good for what I have in it. I missed the gap between the top of the chassis & the cab but it will look fine in a bar.

Buschman, I think the cab looks great. You could probalby fix that top with just a q-tip and some stain?

Also what does the "Q" or "O" knob (located after the presence) do? Cut, MV?

It was originally a cut control. The amp did not need it so it has become a post phase inverter master volume.

Thanks for the kind words.

Hey Dartanion, that cabinet looks great! I finally have all my drawer parts together, (which has a similar look to cherry) and would like to give the oil/wax thing a try.
I have no idea what products to use.
Any suggestions that would point me in the right direction would be appreciated!

Hey Jem,

I use a environmentally friendly low VOC hardwax from OS and lemon oil. You can use other oils and hardwax products. Most woodworking stores can set you up with the right stuff.

Hope this helps.

I ended up getting some Teak Oil. It's drying now as I type this. Hope that's OK. I read somewhere not to use it.
Is the hardwax that MinWax sells OK?

Now I need to get a camera for the obligatory pictures

Jem, I've been gigging with my Express clone for about 4 months, now, with the cab made from a Woodcraft custom drawer. You shared that GREAT idea with us months ago  I have two more drawers in th shop waiting for a Liverpool and a Wreck Jr. They make durable, quality, affordable cabs.
Thanks so much for sharing :D
