Home-made cab for you to scoff :-D

Post by captain_rusty »

I hesitated about posting a pic of my home-made "road cab" for my Ceriatone Liverpool; it is pretty risible compared with the fantastic work done by many of this board's members. However, my approach is practical - the amp is lugged about in my car to gigs and rehearsals, so I need to protect it but not worry about the cab getting scuffed, etc...

Hey rusty, there is nothing wrong with this cab.
It looks rugged.
And it's got a handle. 8)
I like it. :)
It's probably not designed by Phliippe Starck. But who wants an amp head, that slips off of the speaker box, anyway?

GREAT CAB 8) It's rock'n'roll, not a fashion show (though your cab looks pretty good) :!:

I think it looks just fine. I covered a head cab with tweed today and man is that a job. I always put chrome corners on mine because my tolex corners look so crappy but they also serve a purpose.

I know a few guys who build the cabinets out of pine then take them to a truck bed spray outfit and get a heavy coat of rubberized gook throwed on there. It actually looks pretty good and wears like iron.

I was just going to recommend the truck bed liner. I forgot what amp maker does it, but there is one that does red, blue, black and probably some other colors in a roll on truck bed liner.

And Doc's looks good in the black texture as well.

Rusty, it's a fine cab, and I love how you decided to keep the wood face section and place the Ceriatone logo there.

What wood is the cab and that face section?

The wood is some cheap plywood and the face section is bamboo floor tiles :D VERY hard to cut...

I like the simple blue Minwax stain. :)

Makes me want to get off my butt and build *something* for my Ceriatone. Especially now that I have these neat faceplates...I just don't have a heated shop, and I only have a table saw working now since my router gave up the ghost after 20 years of light use. :)

I let it go...have enough problems as is and not much time on my hands being a family rock and roll man...

Besides...them cheap cabs are too much fun...

Yo Capt'n,

That is a great looking cab. I'd be afraid to take that one to a gig. Very nice.

Cool cab! Is that Bamboo flooring for the front panel? Sehr Gut!

Fire engine red? Where do you see that? I'm an oil and wax finish kind of guy, although I'll do whatever finish the customer wants.

Tubetwang, This is slightly off topic, but, I love those knobs with a skirt. The black ones on your lower amp. Who's your supplier pray tell? Great work by the way!
