TW Express perfboards available

Post by UR12 »

Anyone interested in a set of boards for their Express shoot me an email.

I am making these by hand at the moment out of 1/8 in thick xx phenolic. They are the same size used in the original Express. The preamp board measures 9.5 inches x 2.25 inches and the power supply board measures 5 inches x 3.5 inches. Holes are .093 in dia spaced at .265 inches apart.

Here is a populated set of boards incase you need a parts layout.
(Thanks Allyn)

Dear Dana

I'm interested in such things though where did you get the 9.1K resistors from and the 1K 25watt resistor from.

Then of course there is the matter of those Mallory orange drop caps?
Yours Sincerely

The 9.1k and 1k 25w came from Mouser. The Mallorys are another story. I was able to get a few from Rhinson when he made his lucky buy. I just put the populated board pic out there to show what it looked like with the parts on it.

Here is what Richie posted about the OD caps

"you can also get the 6PSS20 which are the same cap, made the same way exactly as the PVC mallory, by the same manufactuer. and these are .02
96 cents each, 25 pieces min order. Just got a bag of them today..
good people to deal with. "

Top work, Dana. :) Handmaking these perf boards is a b*gg*r of a job.

Anyone getting hold of these should send you extra beer vouchers - because cloning the rest of Fran is a doddle ;)

Thanks guys for the kind words! These things are a little labor intensive as Loverocker alluded to. 272 holes in just the main board all drilled by hand.

I think I have replied to everyone's email that has "expressed" an interest. If you didn't get an email from me then please email me again and let me know

I will try and answer a few questions that some people are asking.

The price is $35.00 for a set of boards and this includes USPS 1st class mail shipping. If you want it shipped differently or are not located in the US extra shipping charges will apply.

The turrets come already installed. I don't have any of the original terminal clips that was used on Ken's original boards (they are all but extinct), but I am working on getting a replica manufactured to the same specs. This is probably a few months away IF they can make them at all. The original manufacturer has already turned me down. I'll keep ya posted on those.

Is there anyway you can move this thread to the for sale area? I probably should have posted it there to begin with

I'll leave the thread here for now. It's not a big deal.
