That looks great Dana!!! I can't wait to here some clips.

I have a couple of questions. Were did you get your Bias Pot and 100K Ohms to ground pair?

I'll have to wait on the clips. I don't play guitar and Richie is a little laid up at the moment.

I bought the bias pot at a local electronics store in town and Richie came up with a couple of 100ks from one of his many little drawers of resistors. 8)

We fired it up this evening and it sounded good , but I am having to play with the 220k ohm resistor in the bias circuit. At 220 k I can only go to -28 volts. I changed it to 150K and now it wont go below -32v. I am going to try a 180K to see if I can get it in a useable range. When Richie played it this afternoon I think the bias was running a little cold at -33v with a plate voltage of 385v. I haven't had a chance to measure current with the bias probe yet. It's still extremely cool though it just sits there and sustains forever. :D

Something I noticed during the build was that Franchesca's speaker jacks are wired a little strange in that there isn't any ground wire from the 1st jack to the 2nd. I wired mine like Ken did but I think I am going to go back and add the ground instead of depending on the nut and the chassis. If the nut were to ever come loose on the jack and the ground go intermittant it wouldn't be a good thing.

Yes the amp sounded really good.. tight bass no mush, good string definition. And it sings. Both LP and strat..
Dana just got finished with it and brought it over. Its all working fine,no problems. You could crank everything and no oscilations or bad noises at all..very quiet really.
He did forget to bring the other Wreck build so we could compare them.
Hes going to bring them both back tomorrow. Really excited to hear the 2 together. The amp he brought over is exact to the Wreck..caps resistors etc..

I've got one started also, but waiting on different transformers for this amp and another one. Plus i have another amp to build in the meantime.
Dana's amps are always well built..vert neat.

Thanks Allyn. The labels were a nice touch! I may have found a source for some nice Hickory to make the cab out of so I'm going to probably go with that. Ive got the face plate cut out but I have to plane it down and drill the holes. Richie suggested having my wife do a Redi Kilowatt playing guitar on the front panel.

How did the amp thing go at Greg's? How's your build coming along?

Richie and I are planning on getting together tomorrow and compare the Junkyard Express to the new one (Lacie Jade) and try some different tubes and such. I should have the bias thing worked out by then.

Hi Dana,

Greg's jam was a great time! I brought my 36 watt. Pete and I played it all day. Greg's TW Express Clone (the one we tweaked side by side with Francesca) was there and rocked. Bob-I brought his super Reverb clone and his absolutely incredible Dumble clone! You can bet that got a lot of play time.

I finally have everything for my TW. I was dying this weekend being away when I wanted to stay home and build at least 1 wreck! This should be another one of those all nighter weeks! I'll post pics. How's Richies shoulder?

They are Sprague Atoms TVA1908 (40mfd / 500v) and TVA1906 (20mfd / 500v)

The ones in the bias circuit are 10mfd / 100v

Thanks!!

Very nice work Dana!

If it was not of some very minor differences , I would have thought it is Francesca.

Looks Great. Thats gotta be my next build. What PT is that, I like the nice low voltages-6v6 friendly. I've tried to use the JJ 6v6 in higher voltage amps but they seem very prone to rattle.

These are the transformers that Moose sells. You can reach him at Toneslut.com. I hope to try a set of 6v6s in the amp this evening so I'll let you know how it goes/

Looks great!

How do you do the square nuts for the chassis bolts?

I have been trying to figure that out for a long while.

They came with the chassis which was supplied by Nik at Seriatone. Nik makes some good stuff!!
