Hi all,
Firstly, please accept my apologies! I'm a bit of a newbie to building guitar amps, although I've built a few tube hi-fi amps so I know the basics.
Anywho, I was searching around for a bluesey-type amp when I stumbled across the TrainWreck forum & all the schematic files(!), including 'The Blues Express' - sounds perfect! . So I did a search here but couldn't find any discussions on this design... am I in the right place?
I'm just trying to find out if anyone has experince of this amp - Ver. A5h and the variations - before I start with the dumb questions
Many thanks,
Steve

Re: The Blue Express anyone?
Hi steve
Welcome! I wish I could tell you that I have built this amp but I haven't. It does look interesting after looking at the schematic, kind of an EL84 Express/liverpool design with a lot of bells and whistles thrown in for good measure. It is also using a Concertina/Splitload Phase inverter instead of the normal Longtail PI used in the Express and Liverpool. The splitload produces less gain than the longtail and might help account a little for the "sparkling clean tone" So it looks like this thing has a TW preamp coupled to a PI that Fender used in some of their amps and a output section from a 18 watt amp. I am sure that if you decide to build it you will be able to find help here.
There is more info on this amp at blue guitar including a sound sample

Good Luck in your quest!

The host of the Blueguitar site is Steve A. He posts at the Ampage amp board, so you might get some help over there if no one has an answer here.

Many thanks for your welcome & reply.
I appreciate your explanation and the links. I actually found two documents on Blueguitar, one re. the Blues Express and for the 'Plus' version . Just need to print them out and read 'em.
Thanks again,
Steve

Thanks also to you for the links.
I had a look at the Ampage board but I couldn't find anything specific to the Blues Express using their search function... maybe it was just me
Once I've read those articles and if I have any questions no doubt I can just ask them here or on Ampage.
Cheers,
Steve
Re: The Blue Express anyone?
The search function at Ampage is useless. If you post a question, you'll probably get a response from Steve.
