New '89 Express video, something different...

Post by geetarpicker »

New Gretsch Silver Jet '62 reissue, into my '89 Trainwreck Express played clean (almost) from start to finish.
I didn't even touch the guitar knobs, something must be wrong with me!

Hope you all like it.

Sounds great Glen! I love the cleans of the Express and filtertron type pups also sound super cool with a Wreck. Plucky and bubbly clean and sizzling, singing crunchy tones. My band mate's Setzer sounds quite nice with the different Wreck inspired amps that I've built, so it's nice to hear a Gretsch with a real Wreck.

Are you using your same long cable setup?

Have you used P90s much with your Wrecks and clones?

What Dartanion said. I really like watching/listening to you play. And that song is one of my fave's too.

DAMN!!!

That sounds better than "Can You Hear it Ring?"...the reason I got a TW clone.

You've got to stop posting this stuff...I can't afford it! Now I need a DuoJet...

Glen, you're amazing.

Glen-

That is just stellar- the composition, the technique and of course the tone. It still just floors me how soulful the Express can be whether cranked or clean. The warmth of the tone is in a class of its own, and this video makes me react the same way when I heard your Les Paul / TW video....

Sounded great Glen.

I guess I thought the Express was more of a one trick pony but you proved me wrong with that piece.

Excellent! :D

Nope, nothing wrong with you, stellar tone and playing. Every note you played was about the song, I love it, no mindless wanking. :D

Glenn, very nice indeed. Love fitertrons. I play a Gretsch Rev Horton Heat with TV Jones Classics pups. Sounds great with my express build.

Did you use a 12AU7 in V1 for the clip? Again, it sounds stellar!

No, just the same tubes as my other clips. Sylvania 12AX7s & EL34Ms.

I was recording late at night and actually attenuated the amp to -16db with a hotplate. Not a good sounding setting usually, but ok when the amp is mostly clean anyway.
