I remember having problems playing them on one of my computers. I downloaded a codec pack for Windows Media Player and the issue was fixed. Do a search for on Google for "Windows Media Player codec". The videos are definitely worth the effort!

if media player is doing "Opening media..." give it some time.

I tried it now, and it takes about 1-2 minuts for it to start playing

stupid windows

It's using CyberLink Video/SP Decode codec. You can get it in ACE codec pack

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/ACE ... S_Pack.htm

Or somewher else - do a google on CyberLink Video/SP Decode

But you probably have it already, like I said, if it's giving you "Opening media" leave it until it plays or gives you another message. If it says "cannot open.." then download the codec

Hope this helps

I've had the same problem with a different twist. Open up one of the clips and all I get is video, no audio. Tapping his foot in time ;)

Upon opening the clip, WMP accesses the internet and tries to connect to the codec server. Get a quick "download error" and then procedes on to play the video only. Have downloaded and installed the codec package for up to WMP 10, which is what I'm running.

Guys,
I had some of the same issues listed here. I found that the VLC media player worked good. Download here:

http://www.videolan.org/mirror.php?file ... -win32.exe

I checked out the properities on the video and it came up with this info:

Audio codec: CyberLink Audio Decoder
Video codec: MainConcept MPEG Video Decoder

I did a Google search and they both look like there included here:

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/ACE ... S_Pack.htm

It looks like a pretty big download. :(

Double click on your speaker/volume on you bottom right tool bar and make sure all the volumes sliders are turned up! I just did this for my brother the other day. See if that works!

Howdy all!

Geetarpicker here, the guy in the videos tapping his foot. If I remember correctly some folks had good luck using the "Media Player Classic". This may help:

PLAYER UPDATE: Try this player folks if you were having trouble playing the clips before:

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video ... lassic.cfm

One guy posted this too:

"Media player classic". I have a 6 year old laptop that I used as a test, since my home PC was working fine. The laptop is only 550 mhz machine running windows xp (originally an ME machine) and it too choked on the videos using window media player 9. I update the AC3 codec, still no go. THEN I downloaded the "Media player classic" from the link above and it worked. It was the fix on at least this old machine. Thank you for whoever originally posted the "media player classic" player tip.

Hope that helps folks. My old links no longer work but I think all the clips are now hosted here. Hopefully you all can get the clips to play. Yes, there should be 4 clips two with a strat and two with the Les Paul. Maybe someone can help get the strat clip #2 linked correctly as both do seem to point to strat clip #1?

Part of the issue with these clips are probably the camera they came off of. The camera apparently supports surround sound encoding and actually has 4 mics on it I think. I'm not sure, but it is possible the clips will decode to surround if played on an appropriate decoder. However the camera distortion will still be there a little bit no matter what as it was just plain LOUD! Hopefully soon I'll do some better clips and encode them in a more user friendly format.

Cheers,
Geetarpicker & "Orphan Annie" aka my '89 Express

I've tried everything I can think of, to no avail. I still can't get the vids to play on my Mac.

Oh well, a guy can dream... :(

For the mac, I think all you need is:

Mplayer, to play the video:

http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/10784

And the AC30 codec to hear the audio track:

http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Audio/AC3-Codec.shtml

Note you'll need to drag the ac30 codec to /Library/Quicktime
