Toneman,

Follow this schematic. Note the use of an additional 8R 20w resistor to center tap on the 25R 100w adjustable resistor. The other 25R 100w adjustable resistor has the normal three taps. No rheostat is used on this design which is 50w 8 ohm load.

OK, I see now what was not obvious before.

It is the w/out rheostat one.

Just has the resistor hidden.

Nice work on the enclosure and thanks for the drwg.

In the 60's people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird , and they take Prozac to make it normal.

What is the enclosure you used? It looks pretty cool, and the plate on top really makes it professional looking.

I need to build a Brake, but am not happy with the aluminum Hammond chassis thing...

Rheostat vs non-rheostat

Post by angelodp »

Could someone elaborate on the differences in the rheostat vs non rheostat unit in terms of signal quality or operation.

angelodp,

Here is a link to previous discussion on rheostatless version and some one else will have to advice which one is better or maybe that thread has all the info. I read it a while back.

Thanks Mark, what's your take on the device. I am about to implement a VVr in my Rocket as well.
