If you roll the tone all the way off on that les paul, does the volume go to nil?

Thanks for taking the time to post the link here also...nice to hear the nuances of that combination explained with examples. 30 years with the same guitar...longest for me is 15 and counting.

No. At the end I roll the neck tone all the way off and crank the volume up all the way and it's the clapton woman tone no problem.
