No I haven't but always interested in what people can provide. I like the looks of the new K19 combo as well.

I have the layout mapped out on paper. Tone control is Supro-style. Saturation control is the most unique element of the circuit. The rest is pretty standard 18 watt variation.

What are they doing for the saturation control?

I looked inside mine when I had it. Not an amp builder so have nothing to offer, other than most resistors had black heatshrink tubing on them to hide thier values.

I'd like to see some photos. Apparently its all PTP.

From what the guys on 18watt and medler says, it's based off the SuperliteTMB, Volume 1 is just relabeled Saturation and it has a Supro Style Tone control.

Medler which supro model?

I'm looking at modding a Valve JR close to this with a better OT and a few more holes punched in the chassis

I'll be happy with the topology.

Is V1 a paralleled triode or is it cascaded?

If it's a paralleled triode it might be Supro Tone control which is tweed style with 500K pots & a 3.3n to ground off the tone pot & then into LTPI & then the saturation might be a PPIMV.

If it's cascaded it might be triode 1 into volume with 2-way bright switch, then into triode 2 & then into supro style volume & tone, into LTPI.

Anyone else got more info?

This has been one elusive amp for sure.

Actually I was giving this some thought last night after I was looking at Doug Hoffman's 18 watt stout schematic.

And I think the Komet 19 follows the same topology, however you have to swap the tonestack to the supro style & the Komet 19 has a solid state rectifier & there's obviously more differences between the two amps.

However, with the Komet 19 'saturation' control I think it just varies the grid bias after the second gain stage. I think there's a fixed amount and then the 'saturation' control just increases the resistance to ground.

Actually I meant to say that I think the 'saturation' control increases the resistance to ground BEFORE the second gain stage.

Hmmm. So it's just a gain control by another name (?) It sounds like two cascaded gain stages with a (gain/saturation) pot in the middle?

I haven't been inside one, but have heard a few in person. They sound like nothing more than a tweaked 18watt lite.

Here's the preamp I've got in my little fixed bias 6V6 amp.

I think the Komet 19 is similar to this, except with the Supro tonestack & probably different preamp values.

I went & played with the homebrew amp today & will probably ditch that 'saturation' control as I had it in my amp. It's a good way to get a bit more crunch out of the amp, & a good way to tweak the gain as well.

Someone mentioned earlier that the Komet 19 is based of the 18 watt TMB Superlite, & I think they're right. Although that amp has a tonestack after the 2nd gain stage & the Komet 19 probably just has the 'saturation' control placed they're.
