I am working on the final stages of completing my amp build and i was thinking up a few ideas for the chassis faceplate. I stumbled on this one:

A few days ago and i really like that idea better then the 1/8 thick piece of wood there. Does anyone know if that was a glue on or if that was an actual painting on the chassis or what?

That is my finished product and i like the green knobs a little better then the boring plain old black ones. Anyone have any good pictures that i could print out that would match the green knobs. I figure i could use some high end photopaper and glue it on and achieve the same look.
Thanks guys.

I looked for you but didn't find anything in my archieve.
Not cheap but I use frontpanelexpress.com for my faceplates. But there have been many posts regarding making your own so you should do a search.

Re: Express Faceplate ideas
Nice idea. And a very cool looking amp.
Take a look at "Amanda". It is the very first Trainwreck Rocket Amp that belongs to Derek Ferwerda. Ken had a custom painting of a seashore and lighthouse painted on that amp before he gave it to Derek. It was a reproduction of an original painting that won some kind of artist award. It's very cool!
I don't know who would do it but with the same technology they use on clone guitars... with a paper laminate over plain or damaged wood to make it look like figured maple. I am sure somebody could be making up Rembrandt knockoffs for our amp panels.
For those of us that have no artistic ability I have found a shop that will laser etch any photo or text you like onto a standard faceplate. I was thinking of using my granddaughters scribble pictures as one of my personal wreck logos.

Re: Express Faceplate ideas
Hi PRS,
Looks awesome, and a nice simple style cab as well, I have to redo mine, it's basic pine painted brownish and it's really ugly...I can't seem to get my hands on rosewood over here and anyhow, I lack the experience and tools to actually shape it into a cab. I can get my hands easily on Alder, Oak, Beech or Birch. Easier to tool with just manual tools, any ideas on which I should choose?
Where did you get the logo though, I'd love one as well.
Cheers,
Paul.

Re: Express Faceplate ideas
Thanks for the kind words guys! I actually own a commercial grade printer because i am a photographer, go figure, haha. But i took some thick photopaper and printed out a panoramic picture i took. Then i just took some glue and spread it evenly and just stuck it on there, turned out good and looks like it should last some years. As for the wood its just birch plywood i bought at lowes, it was only about 15 bucks on sale. I even had them cut all the pieces for me. All i did was sanded the sides into corners and drilled and screwed it together. Im debating on whether i want to stain and finish it or leave it as it is. As for the logo, again i have a nice printer, i just printed it out onto photopaper, thenn glued it onto some cardboard and cut it out and it looked pretty good so i kept it. Id like to see some pics of some other face plate designs guys. Lets see what you guys are working with. Thanks again guys! Best regards.
