VOX AC15 [JMI] Replica Layout and schematic

Post by Turret »

I don't know how about you guys, but for me factory VOX schematics are unreadable. Messy and hard to understand, so I decided to redraw it to something more "user friendly"

60's era AC15 for now, AC30/4 and AC30/6 in time

I hope you find it useful. Checkover and possible corrections are welcome

EDIT: Layout added and Rev4 schematic uploaded - I hope it's correct now

Here is a handful of reasonably legible schematics:

Torg you are a Genius  I Realy respect your work. I was looking for that schematic for so long time. Do you consider to draw a layout also?

Thank you Sin1949, it's very nice of you, but it's not a genius act to redo someone else's work ;)

One of the TAG members sent me a bunch of AC15 picts, and he assist me with the layout drawing. It should be done soon. I have attached early stadium sketch

EDIT: see first post

Nice. Even like how the EF86 socket is properly shown rotated 90 degrees so that heater pins 4 & 5 are at the bottom.

I'm planning to do it dead accurate to the exact unit we are working with. This includes part selection, layout topology or even stuff like parallel/series component arrangement is specific places.

I was quite amazed to see RS choke in that amp, I'm not sure what brand other transformars are, but it seems that Mercury Magnetic could be right that early VOX ACxx amps used RS trannies

Schematic rev.2. I'm sorry, I have found few errors, nothing major

Replica layout will be added later this week. It's finished, I just send it to few people to gain some input

Cheers

I'm still waiting for some additional input from the amp owner, and UK VOX collector, but I decided to add the layout today. It took me a lot of time doing this, as I tried to avoid mistakes.

The reason I have added this layout is - I'm hoping now for team work, I still could do mistakes, the amp I had access to (pictures only) is in really bad shape, lot's of bits missing, and replaced. So if you can spot any mistakes, please stand up :)

Layout and schematic are in initial post. It's not on my website yet, and please, dont try to use it as a build documentation. IT MAY, and PROBABLY DOES contain errors

If the amp owner let me, I will add pictures later on

Thanks

Also, the amp is actually owned by forumite Loctal, who has graciously allowed me to borrow it and help get the AC15 layout documented.
