What I do when I'm not updating the site :D

Post by pompeiisneaks »

Here's a video series I've done on my Vox AC30/4 build. I've just posted the final video in the series. If you like the series, please do check the others, I've got a Vox AC100/2 I, a Gibson EH185, and a Fender Bassman 5F6A videso out there for you to pick apart :D. My main channel is 'Frenchie Films' on youtube.

Hope this isn't too far afield for the forums here, let me know if so and I'll refrain from shameless self plugs like this in the future. If they're interesting, I'll keep them going here too

Sounds great to me man! Posting videos of great sounding amps is perfectly fine with me :D

Sounds properly voxy. Turn the amp way up, guitar down, heavish strings, hit hard and you'll get the early Brit thing going.

I'd be very interested to see a layout or schem of what you did with the tremolo circuit. Very informative video, nothing wrong with that! Thanks for posting.

The layout is based on Sluckeys ac15 here http://sluckeyamps.com/VAC15/ac15.htm

He just modified it for me in adding the extra two grid and plate resistors for the four output tubes.

I had spent hours converting that horribly blurry AC30/4 schematic out on the interwebs, when he pointed out it's identical except for the two extra tubes :)

Thanks for the feedback!

Beautiful PDF! Thank you for sharing.

When the time came for me to build a Vox, I had to do the AC30TB and I'm happy I did. But here I suppose if you had a Rocket and the 04 you would have everything covered. Me, I added the Ef86 to the TB, added a 5 position rotary for different caps to it (Matchless), and then a SPDT switch to go between the Normal and EF86 channel. So a three channel AC30TB/04 and I like it. Funny thing is, I had a great Tele guy come over (Rick Holmstrom) and was sure the TB and the EF86 channel would get him excited...but he liked the Normal channel best!! Which is also the Brian May thing but with his added booster. Haha, and so it goes, oh well.

No worries :) Sounds good, I've been down that way once to visit my cousin, and I've got an old room mate and an old army buddy both in the portland area.... another reason I need to make the trek :D
