Re: Classic Tone AC-30 trannys?
I don't but I've used the Heyboer AC30 transformers and loved them.
Only done two builds though, one was a Hoffman AC30 that ended up in my current TrainWreck Liverpool and worked great in both.
I did the other in an AC30/4 and it's also been perfect.

I've used the choke and OT, both are good. The OT sounds great with good bass response, although it may be a tad warm/dark sounding

Ive used the ot as well, the upright version, and think it sounds killer. I love classictone, theyre high quality and the price is right.
Not really

I did swap my OT from the Classic Tone to the MM Albion version, VXO-30ALB. It changed things for the better, the top end was better, IMO.
Most people stall out when fixing a mistake that they've made. Why?

Mercury Magnetic Woden output transformers have a good rap. The Classic Tone power transformers are suppose to be good as they provide 320vdc when rectified.
