Troubleshooting help. Dallas ac30

Post by davebolden44 »

Greetings. Could use some expert advice in troubleshooting some parasitic ghost notes I am getting in this 75 ac30 I got. I recapped the amp and changed a couple bad pots. The amp sounds really great minus the annoyingly faint half distorted mosquito/wishy washy note that trails every note I play. Amp is quiet sitting in idle. I have changed every tube in the amp one by one and it still persists. Any techniques solving this type of problem would be greatly appreciated.

What channels does the issue occur on?
What control settings affect it?
Have you tried it though a different cab?

It occurs on all channels and control settings dont seem to remove the issue. I have not tried another cab but the thought crossed my mind. I dont have another 16 ohm cab but I may have to set up a test with 2 of my large 8 ohm cabs in series. For now I am waiting on parts as the new issue of redplating has surfaced. Need to cool the bias down first at this point.
