Hiwatt dr405 choke

Post by Felix91 »

Hi guys,

I just wanted to know what kind of choke I can use for a Hiwatt dr405 build. MHuss schematics tell me 4 Henry but no other sepcs are mentioned.
Would be good to know.

Greetings,

I'm guessing 200+mA

Indeed a 4H Choke to replace R1 is good, but one rated for 200 ma seems over kill by a lot to me since that power supply section is only powering the 6 screens of the KT88s and the 6 preamp tubes.

Each screen can only disapate a max of 8 watts.
I have not run the math , but maybe more like 175 ma will do it and still not be run too hard?

200ma won't hurt and might be easier to find. Mind the voltage rating, though - 700-750VDC

for the screens a much lower voltage rating is necessary, ie 450v
