Re: Peavey Scorpion Speakers
Some time ago somebody gave me a 160W Peavey 1x12 solid state combo with a dead Scorpion 12" 4 ohm. I replaced the speaker with an 8 ohm Scorpion which cut the power to "only" 100W.
Not expensive and OK for heavy distortion work. Hard to tell in that amp but probably not the equal of a Jensen in clean mode. For $50 it worked and seemed quite heavily built.

Re: Peavey Scorpion Speakers
I know it's apples and oranges, but back in the 80's I bought a pair of
Peavey 12" Sheffield's that sounded pretty decent in my large 2x12 Vox spkr cab.
Pretty sure they were ceramic magnet.
I played a solid state Peavey Century amp through it.
Didn't sound half bad!
Not sure of the model number.
Peavey filled a niche for lower budget equipment and many players started out with them.
