[QUESTION] JBL D131 substitute

Post by Bombacaototal »

Given the JBL D131 is not easy to find and specially un modified and in good condition I am wondering what is everyone's opinion on a good current production substitute or something Nos easier to find with similar enough sound properties and tone

Something similar, and is still made is the Altec Lansing 417H. Its 100 Watt Alnico.

Great Plains Audio bought all of the Patents, Manufacturing Gear, and Rights to the Altec Brand in the 90s.

They started as OEM repair, but also still make MANY of the original speakers they were known for. Incl VOTT, 515B, Multicells, 604E Duplex Speaker, and many others.

They still make

Altec 417H

418H

421A

Tone Tubby Purple Haze is similar to the K120

IMHO The Webers sound nothing like a JBL.

Buy a Blown JBL E120/K120/D120F. Send it to A Brown Soun for a Hemp Cone

I use x 1 x 12 HCd E120s in Ported cabs made from the JBL Pro Enclosure guide specific to the E120.
