I'm about to do my first Dumble ODS cab and have some faux suede.

Do I cut the seam like using tolex so it's invisible (hopefully) or do you overlap like fender?

I realize you may have finished the job by now. I'd go for invisible rather than overlapped. Try a test cut, scrap of fabric on a board and see how it comes out. Sharp razor is needed, so don't wait too long for a new edge. Those break-off razor knifes that sell here in the US for about $1-2 are what I'd use.

thanks, I have indeed finished it......and it was a nightmare.

Never use Faux suede fabric.....period.


It has zero give so wont stretch at all( see front cut out splits) the glue shows through if you use slightly too much and it frays terribly when cut making seams impossible.

I'm ordering real suede from now on.

Sorry for your trouble and thanks for sharing the info. You can always get the hair dryer to soften the adhesive, peel, scrape, and apply something new! I know, that's a lot of effort.

Yes I'm sure at some point I'll re cover it.

From a distance it actually looks fine so the urge to redo it isn't as strong as if it were a complete dogs dinner
