I had this speaker re-coned, and it came back like this. Is there any reason why the parts should not be perfectly lined up? I'm not a speaker guru. Will this misalignment cause any problems? Perhaps affect the efficiency of the speaker?

It looks like the glue "slid" after it was assembled. Can I take it apart and re-glue it? Or should I not mess with it?

I wouldn't know if it's a problem. However, I know sloppy workmanship when I see it. Return it and have them fix it. They should pay postage both ways. That, or a full refund.

Pretty pitiful alignment, that's for sure. Not sure who worked on that but I'd send it back.

I sent those pics to the reconer in Indiana and asked their opinion. They said it shouldn't affect the operation of the speaker. Also the horseshoe and magnet are bolted together, and the glue is just a metal to metal buffer.

The speaker actually sounded OK once I got in mounted in a cab and broken in a little more.

But I can't help wondering how critical the alignment is? Seems like you would want everything perfectly lined up along the axis of the magnetic field in order to get the best efficiency from the speaker.

Oh well. I needed the speaker for an amp I was getting ready to display at the local music store, so I went ahead and installed it. I think it will be fine. Plus, I don't want to hassle around with having to ship it back to the manufacturer. Although I probably should....
