Hi,

I got two 15" speaker from an old Zenith console. The speaker are marked Zenith 49-1073 137 6931.

They are mounted with tweeter crossover. From what i found they were made by CTS. The speaker alone read 4,8 ohm.

From your knowledge, can those speaker be suitable in a guitar cab?

If yes , can i use the speaker alone or i have to put them with the tweeter crossover?

How many watt can they handle?

I hope someone will be able to answer my question and that i didnt keep those for nothing!!

Thanks alot

Try it and see, since you have them. Especially since they are alnico's.
Will have to do some experimenting to see what size cab would sound descent.
If you have some scrap boards laying around, you might hobble together a cab.
Open back, try various sizes of rear baffles.
It's bound to be pretty bassy, you want to have a cab size (smaller better)that won't reinforce
the bass tones. I wouldn't bother with crossover or tweeters.
They may be 25 watt.
I would keep the wattage for each one to 15 or so.
They won't be as efficient(as loud) as a modern guitar speaker.
Good luck with it!

I've played the speakers I've recovered from Hammond organs and such. Similar sized AlNiCo magnets, stamped frames, etc. The speakers sound great at low to moderate volume, but get brittle in the highs when you play loud or with a lot of distortion.
I build and repair tube amps. http://amps.monkeymatic.com

The console they came from was equiped with a Zenith 29at24 chassis and 6at24 power amp.
Does anyone have some info about this chassis and power amp? watt? schematic?

Any info about the the Jensen RP 203 ?
Is there any value to them?

The 6at24 power amp from the console seem pretty big to be only around 15 watt. I can't find any info on those amp on internet. I read somewhere that they where pretty decent amp.
