celestion blue power rating

Im in the process of building a supro model 24, using ken watts' chassis and board set. Ive got solo caps, f&t filters, pro resistors and some other parts coming, i think it should sound sweet.

Anyway, I'm going to be mounting this amp in a 2x12 tweed twin cab, with a celestion blue and a g12h30. Im just curious about the power rating of the alnico blue. Its a very expensive speaker and i don't want any chance of it blowing. Am i cutting the 15 watt rating too close? I know they get mounted an ac15's without a problem but i dont want to take any chances.
How do those things survive in ac15's and ac30's?

Thanks!
Josh

Assuming both speakers are the same impedance, each speaker will see half the power.

Isn't the expense in the Alnico and frame? A recone shouldn't be prohibitively expensive.
Crank it 'till it complains then back off a scosh😁

They will handle more then that if your audio input into them is not hard clipped all the time !
30 watts of RMS power pumped into 2 of them is loud!

Well lets put this in another perspective.

I own a Dr Z Stangray putting out a hell of a lot more then 30 watts into a Dr Z open back 212 cab loaded with Alnico Blues with no problems at all.
Later I took one Alnico Blue out and added a Alnico Gold but only because Brad Paisley did it so I had to too. :D

The removed Alnico Blue is now in my Zwreck clone cab with a Celestion G12H30.

Blue is rated at 15w but takes a beating.

I have heard of people blowing up Celestion Blues. I have used a Blue and H30 with my 18 watter without a hitch. I have used the same box with my Trainwreck Rocket, I haven't run particularly hard or distorted but I have run a Fuzzbox into it for about half an hour without an issue.

Celestion Blues are rated at 15W RMS but for '15W' speakers, they are pretty robust and can probably handle 20W. But they are easy to blow up, so be careful out there.
