interesting to mention that my good friend compared his vintage G12-65's with some freshly bought ones. this is what he said:

mate of mine brought 2 new g12-65's round and they were WORSE THAN SHIT - he just put them straight on ebay and bought my 2 spare old ones

If there is any speaker that requires break in - it's a G1265. No surprise he liked the used ones....

How long does it take though before they sound good?

I'll add that I've put one of the new high power alnico creams in my 50w second gen combo and it sounds great right away, lovely speaker.

10 to 12 hours with Joe Pass "Virtuoso" cranked through it. If you can get the wife past Cherokee 16 times, you're in business.....

I have a Weber signature 6" speaker that must have taken 70 hrs to break in. I put it in the garage with a low frequency signal going into the amp. It was on a timer so it went on when everyone was st work. It had a found like cone cry which I hated.

If you are a fan of the G12-65 speaker line, you really owe it to yourself to try the WGS ET65. Amazing speaker that is winning a LOT of people over. Can be had for around $80.

Just tried a pair of WGS Green Berets in a JCM900 50W. They sound great with whatever amp i tried them with.

I have really grown to love WGS over the last 5-6 years.
I have a G12C, ET65 and a Reaper 30.
All are excellent speakers and have served me well.

Finally got a Fane Ascension A60. Swapped it for my favorite, a well broken in AlNiCo Blue Dog, in a 112" combo. Right out of the box it sounded so sweet i couldn't put down the guitar for 3 hours. Man i can only imagine what it will sound like broken in. It's pricey but worth it.

So how does the Blue Dog compare to the Celestion Blue?

I have a Blue and H30 in my 18 watter.
