Tl806 1x12 cab
Anybody have a good drawing plan for one of the Theile cabs.Like to make one and I know you have to build it right down to every detail for it to sound right,Thanks

Marcus, you are slightly mistaken, these are the blueprints for the 15" speaker cabinet.

Re: Tl806 1x12 cab
sorry, yes indeed...I was multi tasking
I have one of these cabs.
They're too small to put a regular size amp head on though which ever way round you put it so I never use it It would 'look' good with my Tweedle Dee head I should give it a try.

Thanks guys,I was thinking about making one, they look pretty simple,I got a little Friedman head PT20 and thought it might be cool having the speaker cabs. Thanks again

Re: Tl806 1x12 cab
Mike, they're really heavy for what looks like a small cab. There's a lot of 3/4 ply in these and combined with an EVM they go to make a heavy speaker cabinet.
Just warning you as you mentioned a small amp I'm going to try mine with my tweedle dee and I'll report back

I've build ported cabinets several times, any required size, based on Theile cabs. In fact, you can change the aspect ratio, but without changing the internal volume. Only two parameters are really important - the internal volume and the size of the port opening. They determine the resonant peak in the bass range.
By the way, in my research I found that that the Bogner CUBE cab has the same resonance frequencies. I also repeated its design and it sounds very good. But I think CUBE looks nicer than TL806

Does the port length also matter? It affects the port impedance, probably in a frequency dependent way. The only way I can wrap my head around these things is by understanding that they can be expressed as analogous electrical or mechanical systems. See, for example, Olson (1943), Dynamical Analogies.alkuz1961 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2019 8:27 pm I've build ported cabinets several times, any required size, based on Theile cabs. Yes, you must to observe the proportions between the area and depth of the port tube to save the parameters of the cabinet.Tony Bones wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2019 9:52 pm Does the port length also matter? In our case, we can leave port dimensions unchanged, if we do not change the volume of the box, but only change the ratio of its sides.
For example, changing the size of the cabinet, which I show in my pictures, I left the initial height (and thus I left unchanged the parameters of the port), increased the width to the size of the amplifier, but reduced the depth to maintain the same volume.
But if you need to change the size of the cabinet and its volume, you will have to recalculate the port. There are some software like BassBox Pro or JBL Speakershop. You can enter the dimensions of the source cabinet, determine the parameters of its resonance, and calculate a new cabinet by changing the size of the port, to obtain the required parameters.

Some great info here guys.So is the baffle 3/4 plywood for the speaker mounts ?I can see the rear panal is 3/4.Your right it is a decent amount of weight.Somethingfor me to think about. And the corect speaker is a EVM?They run about 250.00 used if Im not mistaken. Thanks

I built a pine TL806 for a friend - his band swears it's his best sounding cab. I used home supply 'pine' edge glued with a 1.25" walnut trim [just had to add some class]. After 6 years it's still unfinished as he's paranoid he'll change the sound. I believe its the well pummeled EVM12L just doing it's thing.

you can use a 12L or a 12 S, I've used both and they sound the same to me.
The Dumble ported 'Larry Carlton' cabs are great, they #re very similar to that bogner cube only the ports are either side. Do a forum search as I've done a couple of build threads. They sound great.
The original 806 is very deep so making it wider and less deep keeps the internal volume but makes it more useful to sit a wider amp on

Very interested in your take on the Bogner cab. Love TL boxes and ported cabs in general.
Had some EV loaded TL boxes since the 70s. The Hermida ported cab is a nice cab also and more head perching friendly.....
