Revival - Field Coil Speakers

Post by JunkDr »

Greeting All,

There is a 5 year old post started by The Ballzz on Dec 28 2014 relating to a Hammond organ chassis and FC speaker titled "Field Coil Speakers". It was 2 pages long and kind of just ended. I wonder if any of you fellows involved in that ever came to any conclusions? I have a set like this and have modified it for guitar use, or so I thought. The FC speaker has a "beating" of about 1 Hz no matter what I try. On this AO-29 they have the FC between the center tap of the HV going to ground. There is not much out there that discusses this arrangement, usually the FC, or choke in this case is on the B+. As it was originally they had a bunch of voltage dividers on both the + and - sides of the FC to supply various points within in the organ circuits that were all abandoned. The best I can figure is that there is an unbalanced condition causing a clock effect. Anybody got anything to say on that?
