Vintage Speaker Terminal

Post by sambatyon »

I recently got my hands in a vintage Fane speaker. The terminals are a style I have seen before, but I don't know the name. Each consist of to hooks perpendicular to the plane and facing in different directions. I assume the right connector would look like a T which need to be twisted. The problem is that I broke one of this hooks on each terminal trying to fit a modern quick disconnect terminal ends.

While this causes not much of an issue for me, in the end I just cut the quick connect and solder the cable directly, I thought that if I ever want to resell the speaker I much rather find a replacement. But I don't know how they are called. Any ideas?

This is an image of the tabs I mentioned:

You can make one of those. You'll need a phenolic strip and then some old terminal strips with the right stuff but wrong configuration. I don't think it's worth the effort. There is no shame in fixing it with what you can find. This is not the kind of repair that's likely to impair the value.

I solder all speaker connections in my amps.
