Airbrake Files
Getting lots of requests for Airbrake layouts and such. So here's what I have....

Re: Airbrake Files
In the layout of the one without bedroom what is the thing that looks kind of like an electric motor, lol with holes in the shaft do you have the value and a part number Mouser? Thanks

Re: Airbrake Files
The BOM is under the Trainwreck files section Express BOM there are tabs that have other build projects in that main Express BOM.

Re: Airbrake Files
Thanks, thats great. One thing though and maybe I am blind but I have looked at the airbrake tab and the dummy load tab. I still don't see the thing that looks like a motor?M Fowler wrote:The BOM is under the Trainwreck files section Express BOM there are tabs that have other build projects in that main Express BOM.

Re: Airbrake Files
The rheostat? Its in a different airbrake thread.

Re: Airbrake Files
I am looking for a layout or a schematic WITHOUT the reohstat. I thought the picture I am attaching was it but maybe not? Questionable item circled in yellow. If it is a rheostat do I just leave it out and wire everything else as shown?M Fowler wrote:The rheostat? Its in a different airbrake thread.

Thanks again,

Re: Airbrake Files
It's an 8ohm 25watt resistor.
This is MHuss's idea. He says that "...using two "slider" 100 watt resistors and an added 20W resistor, [he] could keep the load impedance as seen by the amp much closer to the load value (8 ohms in this case) vs. the stock Airbrake design." It works very well.
There are some actual build pics here where you can clearly see the resistor:

Re: Airbrake Files
We also use a large resistor like that when building the Trainwreck Rocket amp as well.

Re: Airbrake Files
Thanks that makes sense about the resistor. Now off to browse through Mouser to find it. Thanks

Re: Airbrake Files
Built mine in 7.62 nato box. Works Great.

Re: Airbrake Files
Now that's cool. A little ironic though. The higher the click, the more "blanks" you shoot.jcruppe wrote:Built mine in 7.62 nato box. Works Great.
questions about Air Brake build
I'm going to build one without the rheostat and have a questions about the substitute resistor. If I am going to be using a 16 ohm cabinet, should I use a 16 ohm power resistor instead of 8 ohm? Or in other words should the substitute resistor be the same value as the speaker cab that I plan to use? If that is the case, I was thinking of having both with a switch to go back and forth. Also, is it necessary to vent the box? TIA

Re: Airbrake Files
Thanks for the schematics! I just built one using a little different layout and housing. Just finished it but it seems to work great, going to fix the decals later.

Re: Airbrake Files
Bart I like your use of instrument case works very well with slant front panel.
