Fender vibrotone (leslie) clone and Ceriatone HRM BM

Post by boldaslove6789 »

I have working on this proto for a good portable leslie and I am finally making some progress. I am ready to make a production line if I get some hits on the Tube. I am not trying to market a product by any means, just trying to get some feedback, Thanks to all @ Amp garage BTW

Please tell me if it doesn't work

Here is it with my D-clone,

That sounds great! :D

Is that all the Leslie speaker doing the vibe?

No chorus pedal?

I like it!

Care to tell how you built the Leslie?

How is the speed controlled?

Yes the Leslie is all that vibe :D

I bent a bunch of metal for the rotor enclosure and
I found some leslie motors and built an enclosure

The speed is controlled by cutting the voltage in half for the slower speed

I am working on a motor to have the speed continuous .
It will be controlled via standard expession pedal.

I am also working with hemp woods and renewable resources as I am a firm advocate.

Is the rotating part from a real Leslie?

I wonder if a variable motor control would work for that?
I know they make them for power tools.

Keep up the good work, that sounded awesome.
I really liked the clean tone through it, the OD not so much but that could be a recording thing.
Take care.

Whowwhowwhoowww what a great sounding leslie.
I like it very much. What kind of rotating drum do you use.
Do you have plans or a drawing you want to share.

I have an old baldwin 12" leslie, I'm in the proccess of replacing the motor with an old hummer cooling fan motor and a 24volt curtis DC chopper speed controller. The controller has an on off swtich and uses a 50K pot for speed, planning to put all that into an old wah pedal. All the parts came off of an old "EV warrior" electric bike. I move the thing back and forth between guitar and organ duty. My bike is actually faster without the motor. Using an EV sp12 with alu dust cover and whizzer to have some high end in there with out the horn.

For a while I had a friends styrofoam leslie with an 8" speaker but it didn't have the volume to go with a band. Nice for recording though.

Greg

nice!

Where did you get the bearings and styro drum? A while back I gutted out a few organs. The home market Hammond from the 70's often had a 8" or 10" set up in them.

Finally I bit the bullet and got a Leslie 125, which is pretty much a vibrotone minus the $800 price tag. IMO, even now with all the new units on the market DIY or the 125 is the $$$ way to go.

The Bearings are sealed bearing cages and I made a Styrofoam mold for the drum.
