My favorite is alpha metal.

I'd like to share.

How did you conduct these experiments to arrive at these conclusions?
How and what were the test beds?

i think his post is meant as a joke to point out how picky people are in the tiny things in their amp:)

BTW... i use Radio shack, whatever my hand grabs solder...

I find that it makes nice piles of solder.. and remelts good as i fix 100 problems and swap parts 3 times to fix things:)

This must be a spoof - If you really are serious and you think the solder type is changing your tone to the degree you are mentioning are you sure you are making a good enough mechanical connection before you solder the joint and soldering at the correct temperatures? Has anyone else ever noticed a tonal or touch response change with different solders? I have noticed that if you do the signal path with red wire you get a better rock sound and you can't beat blue wire for blues amps.

Pesonally I just tie my wires in a knot. Seems to work ok but I think I'm lacking gain.

Hmmmm--that was a problem for me as well. I found that after tying securely I could apply .75 gm of Big League Chew directly to the turret making these charming little umbrellas throughout my amps. The one time I gigged with the first one of these it kinda cut out on me. I just picked it up and stood in on shaker the rest of the set! It was cool.

It really doesn't matter how you hook up the wires as long as you're sincere.

OK I'm gonna let the cat out of the bag. Resistors ? who cares? Caps any ole cap'll do. THE SECRET TO GRAIL TONE IS, NOS RED CHICKEN HEADS! Not fire engine red, but more of a maroon color. This is CRITICAL in th OD section and highly desirable throughout. I won't tell you where I find them. They're getting scarce and when they're gone they're gone. Happy hunting You'll have to beat me to them! ''

This is great but the best mod to improve the sound of a guitar amp is to take out the pilot light and the standby switch so they are no longer confusing the electrons :)

I left audio hi end as an hobby, because lot of people was going crazy listening to solders or the spikes where the amps sits, and forgetting completely of the music.
I hope guitar amps will be not the same.........
