Ceriatone OTS HRM compatible ot and pt's

Hello all
I am new to this forum and am sorry if this topic has been covered.
I plan on ordering a OTS HRM kit from ceriatone but the trannies add so much cost to the shipment I would like to find out if there are compatable trannies in the states that wont break my bank.
I have already found the Mercury Magnetics versions but they are even more pricey.
If any members here could suggest some other brands that will do the job it would be much appreciated.

Did you have to modify the ceriatone chassis or did everything fit correctly?

No I used a chassis that was made available to forum members.
Cause and Effect is their company name.

Very high quality chassis all punched and drilled out for a 100w.

It was a 100w ODS scratch build close to the Ford specs.
It is a very loud amp but I am able to tame it with the use of a Dumbleator which is a stand alone tube buffered FX loop

I did happen to be given a Ceriatone head cab by a generous forum member.

So I can say the Ceria chassis are about 1/2" wider than the chassis I got from CE.
Mine is 19" wide, so I have a small gap on either side but you can't notice it unless you stick your nose in it.

My amp has a Fender Twin Reverb PWR trafo and a Tonemaster 4/8/16 Output trafo. Its a 100w high plate HRM, Skyliner, and a Blusmaster spec'd PI . Jon Mernyk built it. To my knowledge the trafo just bolted right up with no modification to the chassis.

The Hammond 290FX PT
The tonemaster OT 4-8-16 as suggested by Greg

The cost of both of these together is less than the shipping cost from Malaysia alone.

Just as a heads up for your ceriatone build.
Your going to need a 6V tap on the PT to run the relays.
You could use a filament transformer like in most of the originals.
I had such a problem tracking down some thing suitable that i ended up using Niks PT and i supplied my own OT and choke.
The OT fit the chassis no problem, but i had to drill for the choke.

I forgot Nik's PT has a tap for the relay power.

So you can go with a 5-12 vac transformer.

Are you planning on a 100w build?

Since you live in the states, you should have no problem finding a filament transformer from Mouser or elsewhere.

The filament transformer is that transformer sitting in the top left when viewing the chassis from the rear.

I used a 12v transformer and regulator because I had the transformer already.
Just make sure everything is made for the voltage you choose.

Rat shack carries the 6-0-6 tranny for about 7 bucks............
just float the center tap.

Transformers for 100 watt build.

Power Transformer: you will have to remove the bottom plate from
any of the twin reverb spec transformers to fit the cutout on the Ceriatone chassis.

Output Transformer:
This one will fit without drilling extra holes. It has 4/8/16 ohm taps.
M-6 grain oriented steel.
You will have to add a washer between the transformer and chassis
to clear the screw heads underneath the transformer.

I had the same delema but Nik let me pay him for the Mercurys and have them shipped from Mercury direct to me. This allowed his discount on the Mercury price and saved shipping from Nik. If you contact Nik he may still do this. My OTS is a 50watt and I really love it after a few tweaks and much reading from this forum. I am still learning as a newbie but these guys here rock. Most of the time I really have to study to understand what they are talking about but that is part of my learning process. I hope to be able to contribute some day. Maybe I am now. LOL

I used a transformer from Mouser to power relays:

I used Twin transformers I had, and used standoffs from Doug Hoffman:

to mount power transformer and drilled new holes for choke
and output transformer.
No big deal, works great.
