Hi finally back at trying to finish my #124 build
I have never built an amp with a grounding buss wire.
what gauge do you guys recommend i was thinking 10Guage
but the wire seems too big?
does it make a difference if the wire touches the chassis before it reaches
ground point #1?
Any tricks to how to wire from the lugs on the pots to the buss?
#124 grounding buss?

Any wire would work, attach to ground at input area only

So you don't create a ground loop.Joost wrote:Why is that last bit important?butwhatif wrote:Any wire would work, attach to ground at input area only

Re: #124 grounding buss?
Rich there may be better ways to do it, but I've taken clipped leads and used them to secure the pot lug to the ground bus, then solder once the mechanical connection is solid.
I used ground bus wire from mojo on my last few builds and doubled it up and twisted it in my drill and it worked really well and was easy to work with. It looked pretty too! Next time I'll try copper. I don't think you need to go as thick as 10 guage.

If you have any scrap Romex around, like 12ga or 10ga, cut a piece about two feet long then pull the bare ground wire out.
Some guys use tinned copper buss wire or even a brass rod from a hobby store will work.
Not sure if the higher resistance of brass would cause any problems so I would stick with copper.
Like Taylor said, use short pieces of bare wire to connect the ground lug to the ground buss.
Float it just above all the pot lugs, then run an insulated wire at the input end to a ground lug on the floor of the chassis.
This point should be between the volume pot and input jacks.
That is the quietest point in the amp.
