New OTS build, need help with Tranny Selection

Post by Ekometti »

Hey guys, pretty new here.
This is my dilemma. I ordered the Ceriatone OTS 50w kit minus the transformers because I wanted to essentially have a choice on what to use. Now my question is what are my options? I have priced the MM set OT and PT and they are pretty expensive. If not MM what would be the best to use and can you include part numbers etc.

Thanks a bunch

I used Hammond trannies, can't remeber off hand which ones but if you check my post history the info will be there

trust me, from personal experience....you cannot get dumble tone from the hammond OT's.

you need to use the search function - the info is all over the place here.
it really is a journey, and you just cant farm out the battle wounds

"The OTS is our unique take on the 80’s style…high-plate non-HRM model with the Skyline tone stack."

"- Approximate plate voltage for OTS series amplifiers = 440-450VDC"

source: http://www.ceriatone.com/Manuals/ceriat ... manual.pdf

And AFAIU this layout http://www.ceriatone.com/images/layoutP ... ial-V2.jpg , it doesn't show a precision power supply.

So if it should be correct (what I don't know!) that the circuit of this OTS 50W is indeed similar to the circuit of a 4th generation "high-plate classic" ODS 50W with a skyline update, then

- some used original Fender 022871 OT or some currently available faithful 022871 replica

and

- some used original Fender 022814 PT or some currently available faithful 022814 replica

might IMO be worth a try.

Cheers,

Max
